Troubleshooting Common Refrigerator Issues

Refrigerator Repair Service

Refrigerators are the most used appliance in any home- it’s always on. However, when they are not properly maintained, they can leak or cycle too much or even get worse. In such situations, you can DIY or call the professionals to get the problems fixed.

There is ice buildup in freezer

It can be the result of a leaking door gasket or maybe the freezer door is kept open too long. The gasket allows the cold air to constantly seep out, making the refrigerator run overtime.

Fix- Check that the freezer is closed properly. This will resolve half of the problem. Moreover, you can check the gasket for any leakage, if you found any leakage; you will need to replace it. You can also try cleaning the seal using warm water, soap, and a cloth. You can use a towel to dry the seal and the surrounding areas.

The refrigerator is leaking water

If you see water puddling up under your refrigerator, you know there is something suspicious. Water leakage comes from two problems. A blocked defrost drain or a clogged or frozen water supply line can be the reason behind water to puddle.

Fix- you can try flushing the drain from inside the freezer with warm water or can take help of a pipe cleaner to remove the clog. Moreover, you need to locate the shut-off valve and check for any leaks, kinks, or clogs. If there is a break or tear, replacing the water supply line can be a great idea.

Buildup of debris and dust around the condenser

A refrigerator that constantly runs is not only noisy; it can also affect your wallet. The refrigerator is already one of the most power-intensive appliances in your home, and allowing it to run more than it should.

Fix- before fixing the issues, cut power to the refrigerator first. To access the coils, look for the grill and remove it by popping out the snaps. You can use a vacuum cleaner or a cloth to clean the debris.

If these DIY techniques do not solve the issue, consult with a professional. A professional is well aware of the technicalities and can help resolve the issues on time.
